This is a recording of the making of a body art piece that I created for my IB Visual Arts course.
My folio theme is impermanence and I explored the idea of tattooing as a contrast to the idea that nothing last forever. The wings were a representation of the freedom that I was longing for at the time.
I used only sharpies on my model “Bobii” who kindly posed topless for hours as we created the wings on her back and then went on to shoot for a photographic piece.
After I submitted the photos to my folio, the reactions that I received were all “how did you do that?” “how long did that take?” “is that really on her body?” etc so I decided to upload and show off the process of how I did it.
This was my first time drawing on a live model. I hadn’t slept the night before and was terrified about how it would turn out, but I am still nonetheless proud of trying something new and different.
Hope you enjoy the wonderful soundtrack by none other than the legendary Jimi Hendrix.
